Come-back of the Dog whelk Nucella lapillus (Linaeus, 1758) in the mouth of the riverWesterschelde
Spirula , Volume 400 p. 167- 167
Although most populations of the dog whelk (Nucella lapillus) in The Netherlands recovered after the ban onTBT in anti-fouling paints, until now this was not observed in the mouth of the riverWesterschelde. In this area TBT was produced and there is heavy traffic of ocean-going vessels. This is the first record of a reproducing population near Vlissingen since the 1970s.
