Marine molluscs from the Eastern Mediterranean 4. On the alleged presence of Laevicardium flavum. A single valve of a Cockle reported as Laevicardium flavum and more recently as Vasticardium luteomarginatum marerubrum from the Mediterranean coast of Israel, has turned out to belong in fact to Trachycardium egmontianum, a species from the western Atlantic. Since loose valves of two additional bivalve species from America, but supplied with localities along the Mediterranean coast of Israel, were donated to the National Mollusc Collection of the Tel Aviv University by the same collector, all these records are here rejected as being based on wrongly labelled samples.
