The presence of living specimens of Mactra lilacea Lamarck, 1818 in the Eastern Mediterranean has been confirmed by recent finds of it in the Bay of Haifa, Israel. Further investigations have to show whether this Lessepsian migrant is able to maintain a permanent foothold along the Levant coasts.
