Empty shells of Palmadusta lentiginosa lentiginosa have been found occasionally on the beach and off the Mediterranean coast of Israel between 1990 and 2000. In November 2001 the first living specimens were collected off the coast of Israel. All the specimens, dead or alive, belong to the large, broad and colourful nominate subspecies originally distributed along the westcoast of India and in the Arabian Gulf and not to the small, slender much paler subspecies from the Red Sea Palmadusta lentiginosa dancalica.
